(More customer reviews)I've had this TV for 3 days now. I'm not going to go into great detail on the picture quality, because other reviews have commented on how good it is. The purpose of this review is to be a data point for a buzzing set. I have the latest firmware, the ferrite cores installed around the power cord, and the tv is sitting away from the wall. It BUZZES, plain and simple. If you're anywhere in front of the TV itself, it can be heard. If you move your head beyond the bezel of the TV, the buzzing goes away almost 100%. I sit 15 feet away and can clearly hear it during low volume. I'm trying to keep the volume loud enough to drown it out, but during quiet scenes I hear it. It's a very high pitched frequency. My parents cannot hear it (56 years old), but I clearly can (27 years old). My girlfriend can hear it but she says it doesn't bother her. It bothers me, to the point where I am not enjoying the TV.
I contacted ABT (one of the sellers listed here on Amazon) and they simply state "all plasmas buzz." While that is true to an extent, they don't buzz like this model. Both of my brother's have plasmas. One is a 58b550 that doesn't buzz like this, the other is a 60" Pioneer Kuro that doesn't buzz like this. I have a Samsung tech coming out soon, but I'm fairly confident on what will be said, either a) it's a normal sound or b) I'll need a complete new panel. I don't want either. I want to return the set and exchange it for the same model with hopefully a newer build date to see if the issue has been addressed. If not I'll move on to a different TV.
If you aren't able to hear extremely high frequency sounds, then you'll fall in love with this TV. If you can hear it, and you have the TV positioned so you sit in front of it at eye level, it will bother you. If you mount it above eye level so that the bottom of the bezel is above your eyes, you will not hear it.
I really wish this set didn't buzz. It's an awesome TV aside from the horrendous noise it emits. It's sleek, attractive, runs cool in comparison to other plasmas, decent black levels, excellent color reproduction, great video processing, but oh man, the buzzing.
I hope this review helps others to make sure beforehand that they can/can't hear this type of buzzing. Hopefully it will save you the headache that I am currently going through.

(More customer reviews)I have a Panasonic 3D and wear normal glasses , the Panny's never seemed to fit comfortably for my tastes... These feel great , secure on my face , they seem lighter on my nose than the panny's. Wearing glasses inside these felt great because they go snug around your head.You do have to set the glasses for your tv model , for some reason I thought it would automatically do it so that was a little bummer... you have to hold down the power and cycle the button until it matches your brand... it will remember it the next time so no big deal but if you do bring them to someone else's house you will have to remember how to do this or explain it to someone who is using them. My local theater is not xpand so I cannot try the cinema part but thats another setting too! so dont lose those instructions... So if your looking to buy a second or third 3d glasses for your rig consider these for its transportability and at least a change of pace from the glasses that your tv brand forces on you.

Mitsubishi WD-60738 60-Inch 1080p 3D DLP HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)We've had this TV for about two weeks now, and so far it's been great. Coming from a 42-inch Toshiba 720p flat-panel LCD TV, we wanted to get something considerably larger and similar sized LCDs or plasmas were simply more than we wanted to pay. Overall, we've been extremely happy with it, but there are definitely a few minor issues and gripes, and one major issue.
Picture Quality:
As far as picture quality goes compared to our old TV, I would say that for 1080p content and gaming (on both PS3 and Xbox 360...haven't tried our Wii yet), this Mitsubishi is better than our LCD was. However, for 1080i content(Comcast HD cable), I feel that our old TV looked better. I think this is in the settings though. I calibrated both TVs using the Digital Video Essentials Blu-Ray...I simply think that I need to go back and try calibrating the cable input again (I'm hoping it's not an issue of the TV processing a 1080i signal poorly). A nice feature of this TV is that each input can have multiple, custom calibrations. One thing to keep in mind though is that you can set multiple, custom settings, but there is only one advanced calibration setting per input...of course most TVs don't even have advanced calibration (without going into professional service menus), so that's not really that big of a deal to me. Our Toshiba had multiple, preset settings with one custom per input, but not advanced settings. HD Cable aside, blu-ray movies and gaming does look amazing though... also, I haven't noticed any instances of ghosting or motion-blur so far. I do think you would have take the time to calibrate the picture, or at the very least change it from the default setting (Brilliant). Both the "Brilliant" and "Bright" presets are simply way too bright to give an accurate color representation...the "Natural" preset is pretty good though. Also, strangely enough, while I feel like this TV's picture quality for 1080i HD cable isn't as good as our old TV (yet), I think it does a better job with SD cable than our old TV did.
Sound Quality:
To be honest, I cannot tell you if the sound is good. On the day that we got it, I tried it to make sure the speakers worked...and then I immediately turned them off after. I have the TV hooked up to a home theater system.
Internet Apps:
I have the TV connected via Ethernet cable. I browsed through the internet apps and it seems to be a pretty cool feature with a lot of apps (a lot more than I was expecting), although its a feature that I probably won't need or use. The only internet app that I would regularly is Netflix, which this TV does not have. For those looking for on-demand movies, Vudu seems like it may be a good alternative to cable...the prices per movie are about the same as on-demand movies through cable (on Comcast anyway) and they may have some movies that on-demand cable does not. That being said though, I think in a market with Netflix streaming and Redbox, I feel that it is a little expensive per movie.
Remote:
The remote seems to have a nice layout, weight, and balance to it, but I honestly haven't used it much. I'm using a Logitech Harmony remote with the TV... which is also one of the big issues with the TV, which I'll address further below.
3D Picture:
Unfortunately, Mitsubishi's promotion where they were giving away free 3D glasses ended about a week before we bought this TV...so for now, I have no way of testing 3D content on this TV, as I am certainly not ready to shell out for the current price of $130-150 per pair of 3D glasses right now. When (if) I get the 3D glasses, I'll update this review with my impressions of it.
Size:
The screen size is obviously pretty big, especially if you are coming from an LCD or a plasma, as the chances are this is bigger than what you have now. By this category, I thought it would be worth mentioning more about the dimensions and weight of the TV. If you're OK putting this on a TV stand, then the dimensions really aren't that big of a deal. The base of the TV isn't as wide as the screen itself, so we actually are using the same stand we had for our 42-inch TV. There's a slight extension of about 2.5 inches on either side, but it's really not that bad. The TV has some depth to it, but it's nothing like the projection TVs of old... it fits nicely on our TV stand for our 42-inch, and is completely stable. Also, the TV is deceptively light. At only 62 pounds, it's actually lighter than many of the similar-sized LCDs and plasmas on the market.
Minor Issues: So far, I've noticed a few minor issues, and one major issue (which is not actually a Mitsubishi issue, and I was able to resolve). The first minor issue is the picture quality on HD cable as I stated earlier under the "Picture Quality" section. This one isn't a big deal yet, as I don't know for sure if it's simply that I calibrated it incorrectly, or if the TV truly does do a poor job with a 1080i signal. Once I have time to calibrate it again, I'll update this review. The second minor issue, is that every so often on the HDMI 1 input, which is my cable box, when the content switches from HD to SD, the screen turns blue, as if I was switching between different inputs altogether. This isn't really that much of an issue...just more of an annoyance as it looks unpolished.
Issues for Logitech Harmony Remote Users: The final two issues both deal with people who use or are planning on using a Logitech Harmony remote with the TV (actually, it probably applies to people who use other universal remotes as well). The first is pretty minor issue. Because this is a DLP, when initially turning it on, there is a slight amount of warm-up time for the bulb. When the TV initially turns on, it stays on a blue screen (where it is unresponsive to remote input) for a few moments before showing the feed for the input it was last on. If you use a universal remote that automatically switches inputs to the activity, then you may have an issue here. For example, on my Harmony One, when I choose "Watch TV", it turns the TV on and sets the input to HDMI 1. When I choose "Watch a Movie", it turns the TV on and sets the input to HDMI 2. The problem is that if the TV was last set to, say, HDMI 1, and I am choosing "Watch a Movie"... the TV turns on, goes to the blue screen, the PS3 turns on, and the TV stays on the blue screen because its still set to HDMI 1. The command to set the TV to HDMI 2 goes out, while the TV is on the initial boot up blue screen and does not register. This can be fixed for Harmony users, as they can set a time delay for outgoing IR commands. For users of other universal remotes with macros though, this may be an unavoidable issue.
Now, for the major issue for Logitech Harmony Users (and universal remote users with macros). At the current time of writing, the TV is in the Harmony database...but the IR commands for HDMI 2 and HDMI 3 are not correct. Additionally, on the Mitsubishi remote, there isn't a direct button to switch to HDMI 2 or HDMI 3, so you can't simply put the Harmony (or other universal remote) in learning mode and learn the IR command. You need to first put the Mitsubishi remote in "Direct Functions Mode" (I'm going to refer to it as DFM after this) and then teach the Harmony or other remote the IR commands.
To put the Mitsubishi remote in DFM, you need to first press and hold the power button until it flashes red twice. Then you need to press 0,0,0,9,0 on the Mitsubishi remote. This puts the remote in DFM. Then you need to put your Harmony or universal remote in learning mode. Remember to name the new commands with something easy to remember (I named mine HDMI2-IR and HDMI3-IR). The button on the Mitsubishi remote that sends the IR command for HDMI 2 is the "Fast Forward" button. The button for HDMI 3 is the "Play" button. After you teach your Harmony the IR commands for HDMI 2 and HDMI 3, then you need to put your Mitsubishi remote back in the regular mode. To do this, hold the power button until it flashes red twice again, then press 0,0,9,3,5. After all of that, you need to go into the Harmony software and custom set the functions to correspond with the newly learned IR commands.
Concluding thoughts:
Sorry for the lengthy review... I simply know how important research can be on a big ticket item such as this. Overall, even with the minor issues (and the resolved major one), this TV is an excellent purchase. It provides great picture quality at an enormous size, without compromising price. Unless you are dead set on wall-mounting your TV, I think this is by far the best TV in this price range. It has a great amount of features such as advanced picture settings, 3D capability, and internet applications...I think it would be very difficult to find a better TV for the price.

Samsung PN50C680 50-Inch 1080p Plasma 3D HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)This review will center around the Samsung PN50C680 Plasma television that I purchased as part of a special "3D TV + 2 Pairs of glasses" Amazon promotion.
After spending several weeks researching for a replacement to my Panasonic TH-50PZ800U plasma, I settled on this Samsung. There were positive but very limited reviews of this TV - It seems most of the marketing these days are directed towards the super-slim, LED-backlit 3D televisions. Due to Amazon's generous return policy and special Holiday sales/bundles, I decided to take a chance on this model.
I received the TV without any issues - Shipping and unpacking went well as the box did not have any visual indentations and the Styrofoam inside did not have impact damage.
As previously mentioned, the PN50C680 is not one of Samsung's super-slim, single-pane models. It's about 2.5" thick compared to 1.5" - I still consider this to be a thin TV but at the end of the day, "thickness" is a personal preference.
Cabling was very easy as the connections in the back of the TV were clearly labeled. HTPC owners would gladly know that HDMI 1 was labeled to receive video card signals and offers extended compatibility for those that utilize DVI-to-HDMI dongles. The TV turned on and automatically recognized the HD signal from both my Fios service and Blu-Ray player without any problems. Fortunately, the TV was not a "buzzer" as some Samsungs are known to be.
Warning: Here is where the review tends to be personal preference. In my opinion, the initial out-of-box picture was not very good. It was too vivid as the contrast and several of the "picture enhancements" were turned on or maxed. Although these initial settings are ideal for store displays to counteract the bright overhead lights, they are far from ideal for my home theater environment. I whipped out my Disney WOW calibration Blu-Ray disc and performed the required steps. The new picture quality was infinitely times better than the initial out-of-box image - colors were very accurate, details could be seen in shadows/objects, and the overall image was very life-like. Black levels were excellent (although they could not match those of the legendary Pioneer Kuro). It was a definite improvement over my previous 2-year old Panasonic plasma.
Shameless plug: The best thing you can do to maximize the performance, picture quality, and to some extent, the power usage of a TV is through calibration. This can be done either professionally (typically brings out the best performance although very expensive) or through a reputable Blu-Ray calibration disc (increases performance and is inexpensive ~$20-$30).
I would rate the sound quality as very good - It's lacking in the lower frequency range but the sound is very clear with no static or humming. In addition, there are several options in the TV settings to tailor the sound to your preference such as an equalizer and virtual surround functions.
The TV also offers a wide range of goodies such as 3D capability, USB ports for playback of movies, music, and pictures from external storage, an Ethernet port, and wireless adapter-compatibility (not included). 2D-to-3D conversion was good but not quite stellar - it's more like there's a "hint" of added depth when a converted 3D image is displayed. You can change the degree of depth within the TV settings, but the stronger settings gave me a headache. However, the quality of 3D really shines once you view native 3D content from 3D Blu-Ray or cable content. Shrek 3D - the only disc I have - was exceptional as it was just like being in a movie theater. This is one feature that I am really looking forward to once more native 3D content is published.
Although the TV has a built-in Ethernet port, it does not have any internet applications such as Facebook, Netflix, Hulu, etc. It is not a big loss to me as my Blu-Ray player has these functions - just something to think about if you are looking for a more "connected" TV.
Last but not least, the TV needs to be "broken in" as it suffers from image retention. I have been breaking in the TV for a week now by playing DVDs / downloaded programs and the TV no longer retains images. I would not recommend playing games or watching shows with static content (HUD's, channel icons, black bars, etc) for a week or so when you get the TV.

We have Directv so I can watch 3D any time of the day. There still is limited shows but I am hoping for more. I love this TV!! I bought it for the 1080p not the 3D. but the wife said get a HDTV with 3D it is the way to go. She reads Consumer Reports, so I checked all the reviews and this Panasonic was listed as top line! Something about Panasonic is the only 3D to use 1080p in both eyes? Directv also listed it as one of their advised 3D TV's to buy, it was the first on their list BTW! Now I am no techie, but my daughter told me after watching for 5 minutes that this 3D was so good I could sell seats in my house! LOL. I wish 2 sets of glasses came with the TV but hey if you can afford this set you can afford the glasses. I just hated giving them back and forth to the whole family all night. I bought my Pana here on AMAZON @ World Wide Stereo and they used CEVA to ship the TV the truckers came with the TV early (3days) and helped me get the box off too. Very nice delivery men BTW! The whole process from order to turning this TV was 5 Star for me. This is my second Panasonic HDTV the first is a 720p in our bedroom that I have had over a year and we are very happy with. I have watched how many ESPN 3D football games? How many 3D shows? People came in on Halloween and sat down and would not leave! they just wanted to see 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its better and better...

(More customer reviews)These are the glasses and transmitter that you need for 3D on your set, the only warning that I can give you is that a stand alone 3D blue ray player will not work with your Samsung 3D ready DLP tv... you must have a computer connected by HDMI to your HDMI/DVI port and you need to be using Cyberlink Power DVD 10 if you want to play 3D Blue Ray. There are other players that will let you play 3D DVD's but the Cyberlink software is the only way to get 3D blue ray on your 3D ready DLP. You may ask why won't a 3D blue ray player work? Because they use a newer version of HDMI which you don't have. Also, as I stated before you have to have the computer connected to the only HDMI port that is also a DVI port because, here's the kicker, your set works with this other format, which they abandoned. See the lessons we learn from being the first to purchase a new technology! One other note on these glasses... They work and most of the others will not, here's why: The DLPs work at a much higher sync rate in 3D mode, which is awsome but once again, something they abandoned. Other glasses will not operate at this frame rate (120 hz) and will not work with your system. Please learn from my experience and save yourself the headache and expense of trying to get your DLP to work any other way... You need a computer, Cyberlink Power DVD 10, these glasses with the included transmitter that plugs into you 3D port on your TV. Then WOW!!!

Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-65838 65-Inch 1080p 3D DLP HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I researched many TVs before buying this one. I focused on Plasma, LED, and LCD sets. I had settled on a 65inch plasma and went to the store to purchase one. The salesman asked me if I had looked at DLP? I didn't even know they still made DLP sets to be honest. I was very impressed with the picture quality of the Mits DLP TVs.Then.......he showed me a football game in 3D on this set.....it was AWESOME! If you are a sports fan - do yourself a favor and go to a store and watch demo's on these TVs - it is like you are at the event. During all viewing, the black levels and white levels are very good and the color is sharp and infinately adjustable. You would have to spend 2X-3X as much on a top end plasma or LED to rival the picture quality and 3D capability of the Mits 65838.
I ended up choosing the 838 model rather than the 738 due to the additional sound capability of the 838. As I was shopping for the flat panel TVs I noticed the sound was never very good. The room we have the TV in is pretty big and I need good sound. When I bought the TV, Mits was throwing in a free Polk subwoofer with purchase. The sub can be hooked directly to the 838. That subwoofer + the 16 built in speakers produces phenominal sound. I also have a full AV receiver/surround system hooked up, but I did not want to mess with having to power everything up every time I wanted to watch TV - now I don't have to!
The brightness and viewing angles are good on this set. I have the TV on a 19inch stand. No noticable dimming when standing/sitting if you are more than 6 feet away. I would estimate that viewing angles are good to 150-160 degrees without any real noticable dimming.
Lastly, I find the menu system easy to use. The TV was easy to set up and navigate with. The only downsides I have found to this set:
1. 3D capabilities - it is still early and you will have to buy the Mits 3D adapter set to view a lot of the content. They have been promising a firmware update to the 738 and 838 series to take car of this, but nothing yet.
2. There is a noticable delay when switching between HD channels. Folks in the forums have commented on this, regardless of service type (Comcast, DirectTV, etc).
3. The factory default settings for color/brightness/contrast are not great. I found I had to spend some time in the advanced menu getting it dialed in to get the proper contrast/brightness/color. It is not hard to do and the menu is easy to understand, it just takes some time.

(More customer reviews)I am an a/v nut. My other TV is a 10 foot projector. I love this TV. The picture looks fantastic. It makes my 60" phillips I had look terrible. I have not purchased the converter box for the 3d but it's coming soon. The audio is good. The remote is not great but I use dish network's remote anyways.
There are some MINOR critiques. I can say is it takes over ten seconds to start up every time you turn it on, for the projector inside it to light up the bulb. You get used to it, and it is not a big issue. The other thing is that the screen (which is very good at not casting reflections with it's matte finish) is flat in the center but has a slight crown in the corners, which is visible if you're looking for the matte reflection (as it's EXTREMELY well hidden, and only seen when you look for screen's reflection).
Where else are you going to find 73" of screen at this price? And it's incredible looking as well.

(More customer reviews)Since no one has posted a review on this wonderful set, I thought I would post something to give everyone an idea about the set. Just a quick disclaimer: this TV replaces a 3 year old Sharp Aquos 37" LCD which has performed admirably and I plan to place it in the guest bedroom.
There just isn't much online about this particular set since it has not been widely released yet. In fact, there is really no information on this set even on the samsung site although you can look up the pn50c680 on the site to find similar specs. In short, it is a wonderful TV at a wonderful price/performance ratio which has enough features for me... I don't really care about app support since I own both an Xbox 360 and PS3 which should have me covered on any apps that the more feature loaded TVs may include.
I've had this TV for roughly 5 days now and I've been putting it through its paces. The TV is wonderful and provides an absolutely stunning picture when properly calibrated.Colors are accurate and black levels are excellent! With my pioneer 1020 amplifier/Orb satellite/Anthony Gallo Adiva Ti/Hsu sub powered sound system, I really have a nice Home theater setup now! I will definitely be going to the theater less now with my current setup.
I used these settings for a dim/dark room environment:

Of course, many people are probably looking at purchasing this TV for its 3d capabilities and let me just say it is impressive! My wife has been very impressed with the effect and all of my friends who have viewed the effect at my house have been very "Wowed"! I have a PS3, Xbox 360 (both of which are capable of 3d) and have played a few games on the PS3 since there is just 1 xbox 360 game which take advantage of the tech currently (the very bad Avatar game). We received the 3d bundle w/ the TV which includes 2 active shutter glasses and the monsters vs. 3d movie which implements the stereoscopic effect very well! The TV exhibits literally no ghosting effect which has plagued some of the LCD/LED backlit TVs out there. Plasmas tend to fair better due to their high refresh rates. I also purchased it from an online vendor other than Amazon and got a very good deal on an amazing TV/3d glasses bundle. However, if Amazon had a similar price, I would not hesitate to purchase from Amazon.com. I have been very happy with their service and am largely loyal customer to the site when the price is right.
Overall, I am incredibly happy with this purchase, my previous 37" Sharp Aquos looks like a baby TV next to this beautiful monstrosity. Although, not the thinnest plasma (around 1.4" for the thinner plasmas) out there, the 2.8" thickness is actually thinner than my previous Sharp Aquos which is 4"! It is amazing how thin they can make these TVs nowadays. Heat output is also very reasonable on this unit. I detected no hotspots and after extended use, the metal backside and vents are just slightly warm to the touch.
I'd say that if you are looking for a large 3D TV w/ great price/performance ratio... definitely think hard about purchasing this unit! You will not be disappointed!

(More customer reviews)I purchased this TV to replace a Panasonic 65" Plasma TV. First of all let me say how delighted I am with Amazon's customer service and policies, when I first ordered the TV I mistakenly ordered the non-3D version of it, and did not realize my mistake until after it had been shipped to me. However, Amazon's policies on TV purchases made it possible for me to cancel the order and receive a complete refund! As far as the TV itself is concerned, the main drawback I have found is it's relative dimness when compared to the plasma TV it replaced. I really found it necessary to only use this TV in a darkened room to really appreciate it. The other drawbacks I found were 1) The TV was completely dead upon original installation, and even though I was using professional installers it took them an hour of messing with it trying to get a picture, before they called Mitsubishi customer service who advised them to unplug the TV, wait a minute or two, and thn plug in again to allow the internal computer to reset itself. Secondly, I am using the TV with a Sony PS3 as it's 3D input, and after hooking everything up, I was unable to get a 3D image. When I called Mitsubishi, they told me it was necessary to return the PS3 to Sony for a firmware update. This was not true. After reading reviews of other 3D TVs I found it was only necessary to properly set up the display properties in the Playstation settings menu. Once all this was done, I found the overall experience to be absolutely breathtaking with both Blu-Ray 3D movies and the Avatar 3D game. I am using the Mitsubishi shutter glasses and the overall experience is much better than with the red/blue or polarized glasses you are given in the theaters showing 3D movies. I recommend this TV if you want the size and are able to darken the room you are using it in. I have never watched a 3D plasma set so I cannot comment on whether their 3D is as impressive as on this set.

I'm sure she'll grow into them but some type of adjustable arms would have been nice. I'm going to try those velcro straps for sunglasses. Other than this small issue, I would recommend these glasses.

(More customer reviews)i researched these types of sets for months for the family. surprisingly there were hardly any reviews on the 55wx800u - none on cnet or other major review sites. since my family loves toshiba products (3 generations of toshiba buying family members) we decided to take the plunge on this tv. reasonably priced with a whole host of settings to customize your tv's picture, if you like to tweak. if not, you can choose from some nice presets. overall, the color is vibrant, the set is very attractive - elegant, professional but not overly done like some other sets. prior to this tv, we had the panasonic s2 42" plasma tv (which replaced a 53" toshiba projection television)in the family room,as i wanted to try a plasma set and toshiba doesn't make plasmas. happy with the panay, we were torn to either get the panasonic 54vt 3dtv or this set. pricing was similar - but internet was not built into the panay. the plasma consumes much more power than this set. also, the 3d glasses that come with the toshiba are much more comfortable than the ones that came with the panay. so without reviews and based solely on my family's experience with toshiba, we bought this tv. we are extremely happy and i believe all the talk about blooming, clouding, flashlighting that comes with an edge lit set like this one is either overdone or toshiba has done an excellent job overcoming these issues. some quick things to note, connection to the wireless internet went smoothly and the widgets are very cool. there is a system update that takes about 5 mins - so make sure you update your system. also, when attaching the standing to the tv, it states slide and lock...it's a bit confusing and customer service wasn't very helpful -
just slide flat so that the two tabs on the stand slide into the two openings on the back of the tv - so you don't have to press down to lock in something the toshiba customer service (who apparently never put one of these things together) suggested. anyway, i wanted to put a real review up here since this is so lacking. if you have questions, ask. also, i will update in a couple months as to reliability. oh, lastly, don't buy from JR.com - their policy states that they have to open the package and add some "protective materials"- well - that set arrived broken. i refused the package and reordered through amazon.com and they sent the package "factory sealed" and it was fine.

(More customer reviews)This TV is absolutely stunning. I was actually waiting for the C9000 to come out, but that TV's price is way over the limit. I found out that this TV which is the next step down and actually has the exact same technology as the C9000 minus the touchscreen remote (which can be bought seperately) and the slim profile, not a big deal considering the TV already looks beautiful and is half the price or less then a C9000!
In all honesty, I think this TV has one of the nicest pictures I've ever seen. One example is the pin-point dimming, which has garnered a lot of criticsm and skeptisism. I have seen the production TV model live and I must tell you, I think it's better then local-dimming and I'll tell you why... Unless there is a new panel that is made to fix the local-dimming "halo affect", this is currently the only way to get outradgeous contrast levels without that problem. The pin-point dimming on this TV dramatically lowers the dark spots on the screen in certain area's without a halo affect and actually goes completely pitch black when watching movies with dark screens just like a local-dimming TV. I think this TV actually excels at the dimming part over a local-dimming TV because it creates supurb black levels without any halo affects. That's a huge deal for me. Next is the color accuracy of this panel, I think the whites and colors on this TV are probably better then I've ever seen. Sure Plasma's can sometimes have better color temperatures, but they will not pop out of the screen with ambience like this TV shows. This TV is sharp looking and beautiful and it displays wonderful 3D and High-definition like never before.
Last, but not least... this tv is LOADED with features, easily making it one of the most feature rich TV's there is on the market. It's completely wireless, has 4-hdmi conenctions, has internet applications and streaming capabilities and best yet, it does it well! I have done a lot of research and have compared this TV with it's newest competitors and this one is it. Don't just take my word for it, go see it for yourselves and you'll just see what I am talking about.

(More customer reviews)technology innovations are going to cost more at the leading edge ... i have seven children at home, several grand children and grand parents who have all come over and watched the 3d movie (only one so far) ... we even watch some regular blue-ray movies in the simulated 3d mode, which is not as great, but it does add depth ... and no one has damaged the glasses, from age 2 (with parental supervision) to age 78 ... with lots of young hands turning the glasses on and off ... we have four of them, kid tested for over four months and all working and intact ... yes, they are not indestructable, they could be easily broken with carelessness, but you would think if something cost a hundred dollars, you would take care of them and not leave them to be sat on ... and for those who care, not one of us have had headaches or anything else after several hours at a time and over fifty hours over the four months ... and 3d is great ... the whole picture just has so much more realism (if one can have that in an animation film) ... just the individual hairs on the moth ... the many times you just put your hand out there cause you believe you can almost touch the picture ... just fabulous ... maybe not for everyone, but out of the sixty or so people who have watched at our house, not one of them was not impressed and everyone wants to know when we are getting our next 3d movie (more than likey meatballs this month) ... there has always been those who put technology down or believe everything should be indestructable and a cheap price ... well, the car, television, computer and many other advances have overcome those that are negative, (of course some advances have failed miserably) ... but my advice is to judge for yourself, i know a couple of box and department stores that have the tv and glasses for demonstrations ... take the time and see for yourself ...
