I bought this tv because of the netcast/netflix internet option. The netflix takes a second to come setup and works great. The audio on this tv is great for a LCD. The color are pretty good but the blacks are light especially in dark scenes (this is my only compliant). Also there is some concerns that cnet.com pointed out in regard to how this tv processes 1080p. If you are looking for a TV with out of this world picture that than this is not it (I would suggest a newer LED model or older Sony/Samsung). This TV is for those who really want the yahoo widgets and netflix/youtube. Another drawback is that it has no wireless connectivity.
I would still recommend getting it if you can live with lighter blacks and really love netflix.com.
For 1200 bucks for a 47 inch LCD , 120 HZ and 1080p is a pretty good deal.

When the adapter first arrived, we tried running the set-up with a computer that is running on Windows Vista. In short, it wasn't happening. We got repeated error messages and the Network adapter would not connect to our wireless network.
On the recommendation from my son, we tried doing the set-up procedures on my laptop that happens to still be running on Windows XP. It connected in record time and now works perfectly on our wireless system.
We have no issues with slow speed when we download movies via Netflix, etc.
Great product! I would recommend this Adapter for any household system.

The RangePlus Wireless Network USB Adapter is the simple way to add or upgrade wireless connectivity in your desktop or notebook computer. Just plug it into your computer's USB port and enjoy incredible high-speed wireless network access while retaining true mobility. The RangePlus Wireless Notebook Adapter uses wireless networking technology to achieve extended range. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. And with MIMO, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link use RangePlus technology, the throughput can be increased even more by using twice as much radio band.Once you're connected, you can keep in touch with your e-mail, access the Internet, and share files and other resources such as printers and network storage with other computers on the network, wherever you wander. At home, you can surf the web or use instant messaging to chat with friends while sitting out on the patio. You'll also be able to connect with any of the growing number of public hotspots springing up in coffee shops, airport lounges, hotels and convention centers. Your wireless connection is protected by industrial-strength WPA2 encryption. The included Setup Wizard will walk you through configuring the adapter to your network's settings, step by step.Get connected with fast throughput, reduced dead spots, and increased wireless range with the RangePlus Wireless Network USB Adapter from Linksys.

I selected this specific television because of the integrated Netflix player. Set up took literally minutes and everything worked great until I tried to activate the built in Netflix player. I was not able to get an activation code from netflix because, although the tv could hit my home network and the internet, the player was unable to log into the Netflix activation server. I first called Netflix and was transfered to LG customer support, who were more interested in getting my phone number than working through the issue. We fumbled through a couple of things becore they informed me that they would need to send out a service tech and I would have to be available for 4 hours on a Tuesday for them to show up. Not finding this acceptable, I reached out to Netflix again. This time I got someone on the level 2 helpdesk who worked with me for about an hour on network things. Basically we determined that there was nothing wrong with my network, but that the problem resided in the television. He was willing to sit on the phone another hour with me while we brought up the LG tech on what had been done. After he walked through several remedial steps that didn't really have anything to do with the situation, the LG tech gave up and tried to schedule another on site visit. I insisted on talking to a supervisor who informed me that there was no Level 2 help desk for LG. After I pressed hard enough, she put me on hold and called someone she knew in Advanced techncal support (aparently an internal departmement). I got a promise for some to call me back. Everyone I had talked to was extremely friendly and told me over and over they wanted to help, but their depth of knowledge on this product was very weak.
After spending an hour with the advanced technical guys, they finally conceeded that they had never actaully set up a Netflix connection, but had seen one working. They also told me that there are known issues with Belkin routers (of course, that is the router I use.) I now have no less than 6 hours invested in getting Netflix to work on this tv and it still doesn't. I will now have to wait for a field tech to come out, do exactly the same things I've done over the last 6 hours and then inform me that I'll need a new board or something, but it'll have to be ordered. I should note that the other web applications integrated into the television work great, it's a shame I didn't buy the TV for them.
I already have a Roku Netflix player (it's even wireless) and I get great results on my Toshiba plasma TV. I should have just bought the tv I really wanted and went with a second Roku device for the new television.
UPDATE - After working with an authorized repair company, the main mother board was replaced and all issues with NETFLIX connectivity were resolved. I am still using the Belkin router and it works like a charm. There were some issues also with the speakers (they crackled at certain frequencies) but once they were replaced, everything seems to be working well.

Toshiba 26LV610U 26-Inch 720p LCD TV with Built in DVD Player, Black Review

Toshiba 26LV610U 26-Inch 720p LCD TV with Built in DVD Player, Black

Like all Toshiba TV's, the picture quality is top-notch. I compared this TV to a Samsung of similar size. Toshiba's color was a tad better than Samsung, but the Samsung was excellent also. Built in DVD player is a plus when space is limited for a separate player. We use this TV in our bedroom and the 26" size is perfect, almost bought Toshiba's similiar TV in 22" size, glad I picked went for the 26", bigger is always better...
Two gripes, you cannot tilt the TV downward. We have ours on a 5 drawer dresser and we have to look up to watch the TV when laying down in bed. If you do not tilt the TV downward the picture quality goes away, and I mean away, so dark you can't even watch it. I made a wedge out of some molding I had laying around to raise the rear of the TV so it tilts down. No having the screen tilt is a big mistake by Toshiba, the smaller screens sizes of this similar TV DO tilt, I cannot see why Toshiba did not use the same tilt feature in the 26" model. Very bad design for Toshiba on this one. The other gripe is the sound amplifier could be a tad stronger if the TV is used in a room other than a bedroom. The best bet would be a set of amplified speakers if the TV is used in a noisey enviroment. Yes I know you shouldn't have to go out and buy external speakers, but this is a common problem with ALL flat screen LCD TV's, there is not enough room for quality speakers in the thin case design.
Overall this a great TV for picture quality and the built in DVD player is a plus.
To solve the tilting problem, I would suggest mounting the TV on a wall with a wall mount that will enable you to tilt the TV to any desired position. I am thinking of doing that myself.
I would highly recommend this TV/DVD combo.
Additional comment: Wall mounting was simple and easy, but you do need 2 people of course to do this safely. Find at least one stud in your wall, the spacing of the mount does not allow you to screw the mount into two studs of course. Use winged Toggle Bolts for the side without the stud if mounting on sheet rock with a hollow wall behind the sheet rock. If stud mounting is not acceptable, the use of the winged Toggle Bolts can be used to attach the mount to the wall. Make sure your mount has full tilt capabilites of many degrees.

i own this player and compared it with a samsung blu ray player, both connected via a HDMI cable to a samsung HDTV and to be honest with the exception of minute visual details this player and its upscaling ability is worth it. the blu ray costs over 300 dollars and this player made me realize blu ray still has along way to go to be worth the money, but until then buy this play, invest in a HDMI cable and enjoy crisper scenes and details and the new life this player brings to your "old" dvds.

This HDTV is all we could have hoped for. It arrived this afternoon and we had it setup with all input devices connected to the wireless media hub in about 15 minutes. So far everything has worked beautifully. If there is any degradation of the picture due to the wireless connection I'm not able to discern it. The picture is stunning, DVD upscaling from our LG BD390 blu-ray player is incredible, HD channels all come in fabulous. Sound is synchronized to perfection.
The location of the wireless media hub is about 10 feet from the TV. It's within a recessed cabinet that houses our reciever, blu-ray player, DVD recorder, and cable HD DVR set top box. All devices are connected and outputting picture and sound without a hitch. So far we've sampled from several DVDs and a blu-ray disc. No problems whatsoever.
If you were looking at this item and wondering whether the wireless HDMI would function well, you need not worry. We have been waiting for this capability for some time and were rather apprehensive getting such an early model. If further TVs are produced with this capability I expect that they will catch on very fast. Having the freedom to put the TV well away from all your other input devices is a dream come true.

I'm impressed with the picture quality coming out of the 6100. I only expected it to be slightly better than regular dvd but sometimes watching a movie I can almost forget that it's not a Blue-ray. I give it a 9/10 for picture quality and I am pleasantly surprised.
As for the "Regza-Link" I don't know. You are supposed to be able to control the DVD player with the TV remote if you have a Toshiba Regza television which I do but I still had to program the code for the DVD player in to the TV remote, which I would have had to do anyway. It turns the TV off when you turn off the DVD like a blue-ray but doesn't turn on the tv when powered on.
These things aren't as important to me as the picture quality and for that I give it a 9. Only way it could be better is if it were a Blue-ray.
I'm running the 6100 with an HDMI cable to a Toshiba 47" Regza.
*Edit 9/7/08*
Still happier than ever with the 6100 and am still considering whether I really need a blu-ray player. The new DVD's that are being released are so much clearer than those even released a few years ago and really look fantastic upscaled to 1080p. Read an article that Toshiba's answer to Sony after losing the format war between Toshiba's HDDVD and Sony's Blu-ray is to offer 1080p upscaling so good it's hard to distinguish from blu-ray. After using this DVD player I believe it and look forward to seeing what Toshiba has in store for the future.

As the other reviewer noted, the fan is super loud, more noisy than my PC with 3 fans. Granted, there is a mod over on the yahoo group to modify it so the fan is less loud, it also means I have to open up the box. I buy the box to be ready to use. Not acceptable IMHO, so I took out one star for that.
The next bad thing is that there is no easy way to change the screen resolution on the fly during play back, other similar product from chinese manufacturer has that feature. It is very useful to swap between 4:3 vs 16:9 material. There are also some files has no sound when play and it does have sound on the computer. That is the reason why I only give it 3 star.
It is great that my parents can plug in the SD card directly from the Digital Camera and see everything on TV, photo and movie.

jWIN JDVD143 2 Channel Progressive Scan Compact DVD/MPEG 4 Player with USB Review

jWIN JDVD143 2 Channel Progressive Scan Compact DVD/MPEG 4 Player with USB
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this DVD player because it has a USB port and can play DivX movies. Keep in mind that is not a high quality DVD player. However, it does work, and I have been using it for 4 months without any malfunctions.
DVD player: works fine with U.S. and Chinese DVDs. No problem. It detect subtitles that are not accessible from the DVD's own menu, which is a definite plus.
USB: works ONLY with flash drives NOT with portable hard drives. I have a hard drive full of movies, but that doesn't work. I have to transfer movies onto a flash drive before using. Some subtitle formats work, others do not work. Also, this player will NOT accept any DivX movie that is higher than 420p. In fact, it has trouble with some standard definition DivX movies. It prefers low definition DivX movies. Only AVI format will play on this thing. I tried to play some MOV videos I took on my camera, but they wouldn't play.
My next purchase will be a high quality Blu-ray player with a USB port. This DVD player is okay, a solid 3-star product. Don't expect to get more than your money's worth!

Panasonic DMR-EZ47V Up-Converting 1080p DVD-Recorder/VCR Combo with Built In Tuner Review

Panasonic DMR-EZ47V Up-Converting 1080p DVD-Recorder/VCR Combo with Built In Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My setup: HD antenna directly into the Panasonic's coax input, then connected via HDMI, coax and component cables to the back of my LCD panel (a Sharp LC37D62U, a 1080P panel with HDMI inputs).
The tuner in the Panasonic unit, while capable of receiving HD signals, cannot output a full HD signal, but only 480P. If you are looking for a unit to act as a full-on HD tuner, this unit is not for you, but if your TV already has an HD tuner, then this unit offers some cool features. Before I start though, I want to point out that the unit does "pass" a full HD signal - that is, when using my TV's own tuner with the Panasonic set to "TV" (on the "TV/VCR" selection), the TV receives a pass-through of the HD signal coming in over the air to the Panasonic. Other descriptions of this unit had me believing that it would pass-through a 480P signal, but this is fortunately not the case.
Cool Feature #1: Recording HD TV shows over the air. This is one of the first of a new generation of DVD recorders that can record an HD signal onto a DVD disc (although only at the lower 480P resolution). Despite the lower resolution, the picture looks great, obviously not full HD but far better than analog TV. I have recorded "Lost" and "House" and both shows look pretty good. While the unit appears to be able to record on every DVD format known, DVD-RAM format provides some advantages. Using a DVD-RAM disc and the HDMI connection to the TV, the TV switches automatically to a full wide screen picture. Setting the unit on its LP recording mode, I can record 4 hours of HD programs on one disc, and the sound is great.
Cool Feature #2: Chase play. After starting a program recording, you can start watching the recorded program before the entire recording is complete - skipping past commercials and so on until you catch up to the "live" point in the recording. This works only with DVD-RAM discs, but is pretty nifty. By the way, the DVD-RAM discs can (according to the Panasonic manual) be re-recorded up to 100,000 times, so they are ALMOST like having a hard drive in the unit.
Cool Feature #3: Disc navigator. This allows you to see all the programs recorded on a DVD disc on a single screen - you can then use this to select which recorded program you want to watch. Nifty! No more hunting through VCR tapes for the program you recorded you can't remember when...
The VCR output is also fine (although obviously much less impressive that the DVD output). I can't comment on its ability to output upscaled 1080P as compared to other DVD units with a similar feature, but the outlook looks pretty darn good to me, no noticable "jaggies".
Complaints: The auto-channel setup missed one of my local HD stations, instead tuning a secondary station being broadcast on the same signal. Annoying! There appears to be no way to manually select which channels are tuned by the unit. I have been meaning to call Panasonic about this, but haven't gotten around to it. Also, long-ish startup time (like 15 seconds). Sometimes the DVD output seems a little washed out, but this can be taken care of by re-adjusting the TV's color settings. Having to turn the unit off in order to have it launch a scheduled recording.
Overall, quite happy with the performance.
FYI, the first unit I bought (from Amazon) arrived DOA, but they were great about returning it and I had a new unit two days later. They even paid for the shipping to return the first unit. Nice!

This is the third video multi media player I have ordered in 6 weeks. The first two were a Brite-view and WD live. They didn't cut my picky standards. The Argosy is a solid bug free unit. I have had it for 5 days and really like everything about it except the remote is very directional. It takes a little more hands on but I like that. Install your hard drive in it if you like and its a nice compact unit. To update at the time you copy the firmware off the website onto a flash drive. It doesn't update on it's own off the net maybe that will change but no big deal. This unit can see all the video files you need. It also has a built in cooling fan. I think this will increase the life of the unit. The remote works a lot like a standard DVD player remote if you push stop once on a playback it will resume the next time you hit play. If you hit stop twice it will start from the beginning on next play. It plays all the formates you can throw at it ,yes MKV. There web site has a good PDF manual [...].

2TB Mvix Ultio Pro Media Center (2TB HDD Installed) Review

2TB Mvix Ultio Pro Media Center (2TB HDD Installed)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this in January, 2010 to archive and organize my entire DVD and Blu-Ray collection. It has trully surpassed all my expectations. Without a doubt, this is one of the best $$ I have spent in a long time. Mvix is a brand known in media centers for a long time, but I had never bought anything from this company ever. Saw this at a friend's house and its sleekness and decided to try it out.
After nearly 2 months of use, I am married to it.
A) Best Bang for Buck: With the innumerable features and options available in this tiny box.. and the low price, makes it the best purchase of this year. These guys sent me a 2TB preinstalled and then I have attached my 6TB NAS over the network. All my DVDs, BDs and MKVs in one place, nicely cataloged in folders and ready to go. I introduce it to my friends as a 1000-DVD changer !.
B) Ease of Set-up and use: One of the simplest interfaces I have seen. Wife loves it. enuf said.
C) Beautiful HD quality: This does 1080p Full-HD. It looks awesome on my 56-in Samsung.
D) Customer Service - Top notch. Was having problems installing the Samba and Torrent modules on the system. Contacted Tech Support. A quick answer in 10-minutes at 11pm in the night. Apparently, I was using a unformatted USB-drive. Best customer service, hands down.
Since then the torrent module has been working flawlessly and my video collection continues to grow by 3-4 movies a day. He he he.
Overall, very satisfied with this compact wonder. No wonder the company advertises it as the swiss army knife of media centers. Will recommend this to anybody in a heartbeat

Xtreamer Media Player & Network Streamer 1080p HD Review

Xtreamer Media Player and Network Streamer 1080p HD
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Xtreamer and the NMT are the 2 best hardware media players out there based on frequent firmware upgrades and manufacturer's participation in the support forums. NMT (Networked Media Tanked) is the technology from Syabas that many many OEM'ers license to make their players. Popcorn Hour, EGreat, Jasmine, QNAP, Istar, Elektron, Suno, Kaifa, SnaZio, Eminent, CMI, etc. all license NMT firmware and hardware to make their players. Popcorn Hour (PCH) is subsidiary company of Syabas so it gets the firmware releases quicker than others. PCH for this reason and its broad user base may be the best NMT device to go for. The other camp is really the Xtreamer. Functionally it's almost the same as the NMT devices except it doesn't have BitTorrent download capability built-in. It has NAS, FTP, HTTP, UPnP, SAMBA. It can stream content from your PC or Mac like any other streaming device including PS3, XBox, etc. It has Internet streams and Internet Radios.
As far as playing all kinds of media types, me-too doesn't cut it. 1080p materials all differ. Wait till you actually try high sample-rated stuff. The true test is something like lossless blu-ray rips. I used to own a Mediagate M2TV. That thing chokes all over the place on full sample-rated 1080p. The Xtreamer used to too. But with the latest firmware 2.0.2, not a problem anymore. That goes to show frequent firmware and manufacturers' dev team support are so important. In 2-3 months I have owned the Xtreamer, there've been 2 major releases. I'm just waiting for their full TrueHD and DTS-HD MA support. The Xtreamer is safe to get.

I was looking for something that would fit in my entertainment center and this is perfect. The sound is great to enhance the TV sound and play my ipod.
Pros:
>Easy to set up and connect everything.
>Sound is perfect for my small living room. The FM radio picks up stations great...better then anything I have in the house?
>I ordered it on Monday and received it on Wednesday afternoon. I paid regular shipping...little over $10
>USB port access it great...pops down on a hinge in the front of the unit for easy access.
Cons:
>One of the speaker components had a loose screw rolling around inside???? Doesn't seem to be affecting it.
>The MP3 port is on the very top of the unit...I can't plug into it because it's in a shelf in my entertainment center. It would be great if it was on the face of the unit like the USB port.
The MP3 thing is a real bummer...that was a important part for me...I will have to try and find a low profile connector or a dock that will work.

Pioneer DV-220V-K HDMI 1080p Upscaling DVD Player Review

Pioneer DV-220V-K HDMI 1080p Upscaling DVD Player

This player is really small, so it might not stack well with your other components.
The converted picture to 1080p is really amazing! (I don't feel like I need to get a Blue-Ray player...)
One small complain: to change mode from 4:3 to 16:9 you need to stop watching, go into the setup menu and do it.
It would be nice to have a button on the remote to do this.
(We just finished watching a DVD that had been recorded in 4:3, so it looked squished on our HD TV until we figured out how to change that aspect ratio...)

SuperSonic SC-28B Compact Portable CD DVD Media Player USB SD/MMC Slot Review

SuperSonic SC-28B Compact Portable CD DVD Media Player USB SD/MMC Slot

I did not purchase this player from Amazon, but I did get it off of Ebay. If you want to use the USB or SD inputs the video format that works the best is SVCD, the AVI formats mostly did not work with various codecs. Also, regular VCD format worked, but you could not skip through different chapters.
The unit is very light and the power supply or wall wart is a modern "switching" type like a cell phone charger. It has played all of my burned DVD+R discs without any skipping or freezing.
Funny thing though, the unit is supposed to be set to REGION 1 or USA, but it will not play any rented or purchased DVD discs. But will play a burned image of the same disc.
If anyone knows any Supersonic region codes, please help.
