I have a Panasonic 3D and wear normal glasses , the Panny's never seemed to fit comfortably for my tastes... These feel great , secure on my face , they seem lighter on my nose than the panny's. Wearing glasses inside these felt great because they go snug around your head. You do have to set the glasses for your tv model , for some reason I thought it would automatically do it so that was a little bummer... you have to hold down the power and cycle the button until it matches your brand... it will remember it the next time so no big deal but if you do bring them to someone else's house you will have to remember how to do this or explain it to someone who is using them. My local theater is not xpand so I cannot try the cinema part but thats another setting too! so dont lose those instructions... So if your looking to buy a second or third 3d glasses for your rig consider these for its transportability and at least a change of pace from the glasses that your tv brand forces on you.
added 11/9/10 : Just played hours of Call of Duty black ops in 3D and it looked great!

Samsung SSG-2100AB Battery 3D Glasses, Black Review

technology innovations are going to cost more at the leading edge ... i have seven children at home, several grand children and grand parents who have all come over and watched the 3d movie (only one so far) ... we even watch some regular blue-ray movies in the simulated 3d mode, which is not as great, but it does add depth ... and no one has damaged the glasses, from age 2 (with parental supervision) to age 78 ... with lots of young hands turning the glasses on and off ... we have four of them, kid tested for over four months and all working and intact ... yes, they are not indestructable, they could be easily broken with carelessness, but you would think if something cost a hundred dollars, you would take care of them and not leave them to be sat on ... and for those who care, not one of us have had headaches or anything else after several hours at a time and over fifty hours over the four months ... and 3d is great ... the whole picture just has so much more realism (if one can have that in an animation film) ... just the individual hairs on the moth ... the many times you just put your hand out there cause you believe you can almost touch the picture ... just fabulous ... maybe not for everyone, but out of the sixty or so people who have watched at our house, not one of them was not impressed and everyone wants to know when we are getting our next 3d movie (more than likey meatballs this month) ... there has always been those who put technology down or believe everything should be indestructable and a cheap price ... well, the car, television, computer and many other advances have overcome those that are negative, (of course some advances have failed miserably) ... but my advice is to judge for yourself, i know a couple of box and department stores that have the tv and glasses for demonstrations ... take the time and see for yourself ...

Writing this review to try to help out others looking to buy this product.
I bought a samsung 3d tv (490 model) a few weeks ago. Was searching amazon for a good deal on the glasses and I stumbled across 2 different products with the same model number for the starter kit. One had what looked like an older version of the box and the other a newer picture with the Monster Vs. Aliens promo on the front. When comparing the 2 different listings, I found that they both came with 2 pairs of sunglasses and the MvA movie. The only difference I could find between the 2 was a price difference, mixed reviews for the one that seemed older, and maybe a cosmetic box difference. So after contemplating I decided to purchase what seemed to be the older version for a very low price of 135.00 for the box set(while the other was selling for 350.00) . I figured if I received them and they did not work I could just return them.
In 5 days I receive my package and open it up to find a pair of the glasses in the newer box with the MvA promo on the front. Open up the package and put in the MvA movie into my PS3 and put the glasses on and the 3d was working great.
I also downloaded a few of the 3d game demos in the ps store and they also worked great. I have not yet had any issues with these glasses.
These glasses fit fine over a pair of square frame glasses, although they are not the most comfortable or stylish, they don't bug to the point you want to take them off. Cant wait for more 3d titles to be released.Overall a great purchase at $135 and I dont think there is any difference between this and the other higher price product with the same model number.

Samsung's new 3D Active Glasses are the gateway to Samsung 3D entertainment. Impressive both in how they function and in what they allow you to experience, the technology works as follows: When you put them on and look at the screen, the technology first blocks the left and then the right lens. It happens faster than the blink of an eye - so your eye won't notice it. But when images are shown to each eye separately this "staggered" effect achieves far more lifelike 3D images.

Panasonic TY-EW3D10MK1 3D Starter Kit Review

Panasonic TY-EW3D10MK1 3D Starter Kit

I am awed at how the price of this product goes up and down, worse than a see-saw. It's still on the expensive side, considering you must buy glasses in addition to the expensive 3D TV.
Hoever, this box set is cheaper than buying 2 pair of glasses seperately, and you get the 2 movies to boot.
I really have no complaints as to the fit and feel of the glasses. Some have complained that they are uncomfortable, I don't find that they are. But then again, I don't exactly have a petite nose. I use them as they were packaged, I did not use the nose pieces.
My only gripe with the glassess is the limited range - perhaps it's the TV (Panasonic TC-P42GT25 42-Inch), but I cannot lie down while wearing the glasses, nor lower my head too much as it loses the signal and the glasses shut off. For this reason, I deduct 1 star.
The included movies were an excellent choice. I have the Blu Ray of Coraline 3D in anaglyph format, and I thought it looked pretty good, although somewhat muted. The Bluray 3D looks excellent. I haven't yet watched Ice Age 3, but will very soon.
I think I heard (or read) somewhere that they will be including Avatar as an add in in a future version of this set. I'll get it anyway though, if I sign up after December 1st.
Overall, the set was worth every penny, since I got the bundle deal and didn't pay for it :) I'm mostly satisfied with thie set.

okay so the glasses seem like pretty good quality and the picture quality is amazing. I will add that it seems a little dark but a simple brightness adjustment fixed that for the most part. My problem with this product is that you have to send a voucher in to get your movies I did this online and it was very simple to do the problem is it said it will take 10 to 12 weeks to delivery I see no reason for it to take that long as there is not a lot of 3d contant right now and you would think that samsung would want me to be able to enjoy my movies as soon as possible considering how much money I gave them

Samsung 3D Starter Kit SSG-P2100T Review

Samsung 3D Starter Kit SSG-P2100T
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just purchased this item along with a Samsung UN55C7000 and a Samsung BD-C6900. Let me just say, it's amazing. It came with a free movie, Monsters vs Aliens. The movie looks amazing on the TV.
The glasses didn't need any pairing or calibration as some people claim that it needs. It's just as simple as turning on the glasses. The 3D quality is top notch, however I've experienced a few 'glitches' so far. During different parts of the movie, I'll notice a 3D shadow of whatever item is on the screen. For example, in the beginning of the movie there is a church in a scene. The image of the church felt like as if the glasses weren't working correctly. The 3D was working, but it felt like it wasn't a clear 3D picture. Let me try to explain it a little different. You know when you have a 3D movie on the screen without the glasses? How you can see a blur of an image all together for each eye? When you put on the glasses, that image becomes one right? Well, imagine that image not coming together 100%. Having an "edge" of a blur and that's the issue I'm experiencing.
I've tried the other set of glasses only to have the same outcome. I've called Samsung to troubleshoot my issue and considering it's a new product, they said they have to call me back in 24-48 hours to see what's wrong. Oddly enough, I went to a local Best Buy and tried the exact same setup, except this time using the Rechargeable Samsung glasses, rather than the battery operated ones I have. I didn't experience the same issue. I've tried shifting settings around on both the TV and the Bluray player and have yet to get a fix for it. I'll update this post as more information comes.

I got this product this morning.
I plugged the Blu-Ray 3d player up (with an HDMI 1.4 cable I thankfully ordered separately, see below). When I plugged in the power, my Sony 810 Receiver Sony STR-DH810 7.1-channel A/V Receiver with 7 HD Inputs [3D Compatible] (I'll review that, too) sensed it, switched over, and there I was in the setup menu. A few clicks, everything was done, including the network settings, put in the 3d movie (Shrek), and away it went, and 3d looks great on my UN55C8000 Sammy 3d LCD TV. Samsung UN55C8000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV No ghosting that I could see, just as good as the local cinema, maybe even better (except they have great popcorn).
I got the startup kit with 2 pair of 3D glasses on Amazon as well Samsung SSG-P2100S/ZA Shrek 3D Starter Kit, Black
I didn't have to do anything else, the TV auto-sensed the type of 3d signal, and it just went to work. Just like it's supposed to. I am very pleased so far, and if time shows me issues, I'll come back and update this review.
Now, for the negative in all of this:
The "kit" part of this comes with HDMI 1.3 cables. A total waste, you need 1.4 to do 3D. The kit did come with a nice bottle of screen cleaner and a soft cloth, so it wasn't a total waste, but the HDMI cables are the important part, and they're not usable for a 3D install. What were they thinking?
There's also a component cable, but I have no use for that, either.
It's now official. I will now always wait for the Blu-Ray version, no need to pay more for us to see it than it does for us to own it and enjoy it in the comfort of our own home.
So, for the Samsung Blu-Ray 3D, 5 stars, for the kit, 2 stars (generous, since the cleaning stuff is the only thing usable).

Samsung BD-C7900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player Review

Samsung BD-C7900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player
Average Reviews:

I upgraded from the Samsung 6900...which was exactly the same as the 7900 except the 7900 has two HDMI outputs...1 HDMI (video/audio) and 1 HDMI (audio). The 6900 does have 7.1 analog outputs that way the blu-ray player does the decoding for all the HD audio formats...but since my Onkyo receiver also decodes HD audio I wanted to having the settings at BITSTREAM (AUDIOPHILE). My receiver is 1.3 HDMI compatible but not 1.4 HDMI (3D ready) so I send HDMI (video/audio) to my 3D tv and the other HDMI (audio) to my receiver...the sound is INCREDIBLE. I love all the wireless features this blu-ray player has...netflix, pandora, blockbuster, and many more. Very easy to set up and use. I highly recommend both the Samsung 6900 and even more so the 7900 because of the two HDMI outputs. I have had NO problems at all with either blu-ray player. The picture quality and audio are top notch...PERFECTION!!!

Samsung BD-C6900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player Review

Samsung BD-C6900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Samsung's BD-C6900 is one of the first Blu-ray 3D players on the market (the other being Panasonic's DMP-BDT300 and upcoming DMP-BDT350). As a first generation Blu-ray 3D player, you have to expect a few glitches (and you'll get them), but if you're itching to watch 3D TV at home in full HD 1080p, this player will get the job done, with a few nice perks and one potentially major caveat.
There is a lot to like about the BD-C6900 including super-fast boot-up and load times : 8 seconds to boot, 11 seconds to load a DVD and an almost unbelievable 18 seconds to load a BD-Java Blu-ray title ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl"). This is about twice as fast to load a BD-Java disc compared to the otherwise super-speedy OPPO BDP-83 player, and is less than 1/3 the load time of the Pioneer BDP-320 on the same title. It also offers a wealth of IPTV options and web widgets, including Netflix and VUDU streaming, YouTube and Pandora (among others). And with DLNA networking, you can connect it to your networked computers to access (and stream), audio, video and photo content like nobody's business.
As a 3D player, it seems to perform exactly as designed - we say "seems" because the only real 3D content we have on Blu-ray 3D Disc to test with is the Monsters vs. Aliens promo disc that Samsung includes in the 3D Starter Kit. When connected to a Samsung UN55C8000 3D LED/LCD TV, the MvA disc looked fantastic using the Samsung active shutter 3D glasses. Yes we did see some "crosstalk" (interference between left and right channels), but this was caused by the TV, not the player.
But as a 3D player, there is one little known caveat - yes the player is compatible with 2D TVs (in 2D mode) and with current HDMI 1.3 receivers, however, if you want to take full advantage of the audio and video capabilities of this player used with a 3D TV, then you will need to have one of the brand new HDMI 1.4-equipped audio video receivers. Current HDMI 1.3 receivers *cannot* pass through the HDMI 1.4 3D video signal to a compatible 3D TV. This means that if you want to take advantage of lossless audio codecs (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio), your only option is to upgrade to an HDMI 1.4-equipped receiver or use the player's multi-channel analog outputs and let the player do the decoding. And this is neither the easiest to set-up nor the highest quality option as it relies on the bass management and speaker configuration capabilities of the player, which are weaker than the bass management capabilities of most receivers.
Panasonic's Blu-ray 3D players get around this limitation by providing two HDMI outputs: an HDMI 1.4 3D-enabled output (to connect directly to the display or to an HDMI 1.4 receiver) and a legacy HDMI 1.3 output for connecting to an HDMI 1.3 receiver. Is this a show-stopper? It might be if you don't want to upgrade your receiver (again). But if you only use the speakers built into your TV (blech!), or you're happy with the legacy lossy surround formats (Dolby Digital and regular DTS) which you can get from the optical output, OR if you have an HDMI 1.4-compliant A/V receiver then this will not be a problem for you.
As a standard 2D Blu-ray player, we found that the BD-C6900 was a mixed bag - some upconversion tasks like odd cadence detection and correction as well as standard 2:3 film cadence detection, were performed well, as was the player's treatment of diagonal lines: no jaggies visible here, even on the spinning white line torture tests on the HQV benchmark discs. But we were surprised to see some noticeable digital artifacts on standard Blu-ray Discs such as "Blade Runner" - the intro title sequence looked less than ideal with ghosting in the title sequence and beyond that, some noise and blockiness in the black backgrounds that we have not seen on other players.
Overall, the BD-C6900 is a pretty solid Blu-ray and DVD player, but for the 2D Blu-ray playback artifacts and HDMI 1.3-receiver incompatibility. If these factors are not important to you, then you are likely to be happy with it. If not, then wait for Samsung's higher end Blu-ray 3D player, coming later this year (not yet announced) or take a look at the Panasonic or Sony Blu-ray 3D players when they become more widely available.
Our comprehensive BD-C6900 review is available on Big Picture Big Sound (dot com).

Panasonic DMP-BDT100 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player Review

Panasonic DMP-BDT100 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Panasonic's DMP-BDT100 Blu-ray 3D player is currently one of the least expensive options for 3D Blu-ray playback, but this doesn't mean it sacrifices performance for the sake of cost savings. The player offers a robust set of streaming options (Netflix, Amazon VOD, YouTube, Pandora, etc.) as well as very good DVD upconversion and outstanding Blu-ray playback, for the same price as many standard 2D Blu-ray players. UPDATE: VUDU is now also available on the BDT100 via a recent firmware and server update.
The player lacks some features compared to the top of the line DMP-BDT350: no dual HDMI output (only needed if you are using this with an older non 3D-compliant receiver), no multichannel analog outputs (for use with non-HDMI receivers) and no built-in WiFi networking (can be added via the Panasonic Wireless LAN Adapter). It also offers a fairly clunky user interface lacking the modern graphic-driven GUI that you see on current LG and Samsung Blu-ray players, though it is superior to the user menu on the Pioneer players. But the DMP-BDT100 provides all the basics, and several advanced features, as well as strong high def video and audio performance. The player passes all the upconversion and film cadence detection tests on the "Spears and Munsil" and "HQV Benchmark" DVDs and Blu-ray Discs with flying colors and also offers enhanced 4:4:4 color output with 24p (24 frame/second) output options for both DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. If silver discs are primarily how you watch your movies, then there is little to fault in the BDT100.
We did notice a peculiarity with Netflix streaming on the BDT100. Streaming SD content from Netflix, we observed something called the "CUE" (chroma upsampling error or "chroma bug"). This is something that can occur when a compressed video source has its color information upconverted to restore color detail lost in the compression process. On the BDT100, this upconversion is imperfect, which can cause visible color banding or jagged edges on the borders between colors. The problem is only noticeable on standard definition Netflix streaming content. Netflix HD, standard DVD and Blu-ray Disc playback do not exhibit this issue. And frankly, those with untrained eyes might not even notice it. It becomes more evident as you move to larger screens (e.g., front projection systems), but it can be viewed on some Netflix SD content even at the more common 42-inch and up screen sizes. As to whether this issue is a deal-breaker to you or not, that depends on how much standard def streaming you do from Netflix, and whether the chroma bug is something that bothers you. But we would be remiss not to mention it. According to our contacts at Panasonic, they are aware of the issue and are working toward a fix.
If Netflix SD content is not a part of your streaming media diet, then we give the BDT100 an unqualified recommendation. But if you do find yourself watching a lot of standard def streaming content on Netflix then you may want to look elsewhere or wait to see if Panasonic can deliver a fix to this issue on the BDT100.
Our more detailed review of the player is available on our web site at Big Picture Big Sound (dot com).
