I got these glasses and have a Mits 73 inch TV. While these work great if you 4 feet from the TV once you go back up 10+ feet you will get alot of flicker they go in and out of 3D model..
I then purchased the Optuma pair for $30 less...they worked perfectly...flawless...with minimal to no flicker.

Marantz UD5005 BD/DVD/SA-CD Universal Player, Black Review

Was hoping this was as good as the Oppo but seems slow to load Blu ray discs (~2 minutes) and freezes up when viewing BD live content so I have to get up an manually turn it off to get past that. Maybe Marantz will fix with a firmware update.
The only wireless provider they player has is NetFlix. I got a much cheaper Panasonic Blu ray player Panasonic DMP-BDT100 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player that has VUDU and several other providers and can play anything on youTube.
Also need to buy this (or something similar) to make it wireless: Monster PowerNet 300 and 200 Premium Pack

Sony STR-DN1010 7.1-Channel A/V Blu-Ray Receiver Review

Sony STR-DN1010 7.1-Channel A/V Blu-Ray Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It has only been a few days since I received and setup my STR-DN1010. I purchased it along with the BDP-S570 Blu-ray player. Its interesting that Sony calls the receiver a Blu-ray receiver, they really go together. After three years I replaced my Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray and five year old Sony DE898 receiver where both devices preformed well, they did not offer the sound and features that I now have. The DN1010 is a good receiver, but with the addition of the S570, you have a wonderful sounding system with all the features that one would want in a new system.
Upgrading from your old devices is not that simple. If you have a lot of devices like I do, you need to create a diagram to lay it all out where each device will be plugged in. To start I would not begin without using banana plugs, as I do not like the plastic connectors on this receiver. Connecting the HDMI devices is easy. For me it was the Blu-ray player, a HD-DVD player, and an AT&T U-Verse receiver. I also have a Sony Turntable that was pluged into a phono jack on my old receiver. I changed the EQ switch to on and plugged it into the only analog audio port that being the SA-CD/CD Audio In and it works just fine. Now I also have an old CD Recorder. I used an Optical cable and plugged it into the optical port 1. My next device I needed to port was a Laser Disc player. I used its S-video output and went directly to my Samsung TV as Video 1 and ported the sound using its digital optical port to the receiver's optical port 2. Now all I had left was my Roku Soundbridge (great for internet radio). It has a coaxial port that I plugged into the receiver's coaxial port. Before I got my new receiver, I never had enough digital ports. You can not change the keys on the remote, but the name of all my devices show up just fine on the receivers display and when using the GUI display on my TV. Renaming is very easy using the GUI mode and the tools/options key on the remote. It all works and after setting up the speakers using the Auto Cal and a little fine tuning, I was ready to try it out. I put in my David Foster and Friends Hit Man Blu-ray disc and Wow, the sound is so much better then the setup of my old receiver. It is that good and every device works so well together. The receiver does not have DNLA streaming, but using that feature on the BDP-S570, I have online my whole music collection and using the Blu-ray's HDMI connection to the receiver, the sound is much better then what I am getting from my Roku Soundbridge. You can view on your TV what playlist you want to listen to, select it and then turn off the TV if you like. After a few days I desided to switch back the U-verse HDMI cable directly to the TV and use its speakers without turning on the receiver. I can also use the optical out from the TV and connect it to the receivers TV optical in and can enjoy surround sound from the receiver by selecting the TV key on the remote.
I hope I helped anyone interested in this receiver in getting the most out of a great system. And know that you are ready when the day comes when you purchase that 3D HD TV we may all want someday.
Update December 19th.. Just purchased a Sony 55HX800 3D TV and works great. When TV sees the receiver is on, sound switches to the receiver. All my Sony devices talk to each other. Only thing I do not like is when you turn the TV off, everything else turns off. Using Uverse or any other source I still recommand running a HDMI cable from the box directly to the TV. Most new TV's have an optical out from the TV and the receiver has optical TV in. With this TV which does not have the best speakers, when the receiver is on the TV will automatically switch to the receiver. With receiver off, sound will switch back to the TV. One last comment, because you have the same network features on the Blu-ray and the TV, I would use them from the Blu-ray because you have a HDMI connection to the receiver and then to the TV, where as you would need an optical cable from your TV to the receiver. Still both work great with great sound and picture.

Average Reviews:

3D Blu-Ray player & a sound system..what more could you ask for..price is not bad with the 3D support & wired or wireless link..even comes with a wireless adapter(kinda of cheaply made however) I checked out the only other reviews I could find for this item which was at Panasonic's website..some good..a few bad. Some complained that it was complicated to set-up and the directions were confusing. Well, I'm here to say that no..it was not that hard..I could not see myself placing a critique about setup..so what if it takes you a few minutes or an hour to set it up..does it work..yes..that's all that matters. Anyways, the speakers sound very nice..load times are not bad in my opinion..I could use a few more network options..it seems like there might be more options in the future..maybe with another firmware update. The best part is the 3D option(I haven't tried out yet) & the sub sounds awesome..really loud at times..the main speakers are slightly soft at times..however..I probably just have to tweak around options. Well, this was a great upgrade..now just how long will this last?..we will see.

Samsung HT-C6930W 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System Review

Samsung HT-C6930W 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had a 10-year-old rear projection TV (it died), so I went with the HT-C6930W home theater w/ 3D Blu-ray player and paired it with the PN58C8000 58" Plasma TV. A very good combo indeed! With respect to the Samsung Home Theater unit - lets talk about the 'pros' first...
Overall the components are all 'shiny black' and look futuristic without being gawdy. The Blu-ray player is the brains of the system, and it has a beautiful blue-glo when turned on through touch-sensitive icons that serve as buttons. Most programming is easier done through the remote.
There are many settings available on the Blu-Ray unit to tune sound and video. You won't be wanting there. Many of them will work 'just fine' in Auto, so you don't have to be a genius out-of-the-box. Still, you have the option of tweaking them.
Let's talk about the speakers - the front towers line up well sitting with your TV at eye-level. The center speaker sits well just below your TV screen, and the sub-woofer on the floor. The remaining 4 speakers provide your rear pair and side pair -OR- you can put one pair up-front to get 'vertical' sound. One of these pairs is 'wireless', sort of. The Blu-ray player has a transmitter card that sends the signal to a plugged-in reciever unit. The speakers still have wires running from the reciever to each speaker. Useful if you don't want to run wires from the front to the back of the room. Otherwise they aren't much of an improvement over wired. That said, they still sound very good, and 'no' you can't wire them into the Blu-ray player directly because there aren't any inputs for them on the player, so wireless components had better work. I only bring this up because on my first unit the wireless system didn't work, so I had to bring the whole home theater back in exchange for another one. Ignoring that - the speakers are very good.
The Dolby LPZII audio feature is amazing - beautiful 7.1 sound and even with HD cable most all of the stations take full advantage of it.
Cons - let's talk about them:
I already mentioned that the wireless speaker are just 2 of them, and there are still wires. Of course, to power speakers without wires you need each speaker to have it's own power source (either a battery, or a power cord). So, it does eliminate running wires from front of room to back, and that's helpful. Too bad my first wireless components were bad, and I worry that in the future, if they fail again, I'll have to return the whole system (not just the wireless) for repair.
Some of the video and sound settings seem to fight with each other. They have a feature to level sound when switching TV channels (so the volume won't suddenly increase on you), but that turns off the LPZII feature. Similar thing with video. But, this is the exception, and most all features don't fight with each other.
Overall, this is a great system, and it integrates well with the latest flat screen TVs, plays Blu-ray well, and even works with the Samsung 3D glasses (I got 2 pairs and 'monsters vs. aliens' 3D for free because I bought both Samsung TV and 3D Blu-ray player as a combo). They should just include this 'starter kit' with every 3D Blu-ray system. That will get more people to buy 3D movies.
Summing up - this is a great system, just hope it doesn't need service because it's a monster to return. And they should make the 3D glasses part of the package.

Samsung BD-C7900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player Review

Samsung BD-C7900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I upgraded from the Samsung 6900...which was exactly the same as the 7900 except the 7900 has two HDMI outputs...1 HDMI (video/audio) and 1 HDMI (audio). The 6900 does have 7.1 analog outputs that way the blu-ray player does the decoding for all the HD audio formats...but since my Onkyo receiver also decodes HD audio I wanted to having the settings at BITSTREAM (AUDIOPHILE). My receiver is 1.3 HDMI compatible but not 1.4 HDMI (3D ready) so I send HDMI (video/audio) to my 3D tv and the other HDMI (audio) to my receiver...the sound is INCREDIBLE. I love all the wireless features this blu-ray player has...netflix, pandora, blockbuster, and many more. Very easy to set up and use. I highly recommend both the Samsung 6900 and even more so the 7900 because of the two HDMI outputs. I have had NO problems at all with either blu-ray player. The picture quality and audio are top notch...PERFECTION!!!

LG BX580 Network 3D Blu-ray Disc Player, Black Review

LG BX580 Network 3D Blu-ray Disc Player, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Had very high expectations for this player. The setup was very easy and the bluray playback was excellent. However, I did not purchase this JUST to play my blurays, my PS3 already does that just fine. I bought it for its streaming and Netcast features, which unfortunately work either satisfactory at best, or, in my case (specifically CinemaNow), not at all. CinemaNow just failed to connect, everything else did. CinemaNow support passed the blame to LG, and LG advised me to send the unit for servicing. I told LG that sending a product for servicing one day after receiving it is not an option. So, am returning it back to Amazon and will hunt for a different network streaming bluray player. LG customer support did try to help, but ultimately were unable to and like I said, having to have a brand new product serviced out of the box is simply not acceptable.
UPDATE 10/20/2010
LG customer support CAME THROUGH! Decided to give them one last chance and this time someone answered who actually knew what to do (I know, shocker!). Anyway, "Oscar" was very helpful and told me to reset the LG's IP address from AUTO to Manual and supplied a new IP address and CinemaNow works beautifully. All the other Netcast sites continued to work as well. I will be keeping this unit!!!

Sony BDP-S770 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Wi-Fi Review

Sony BDP-S770 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Wi-Fi
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been nothing but impressed with the quality of the BDP-S770. It is a fantastic Blu-ray, Netflix, Amazon, and Qriocity media playing device. It has just about every feature that you could possibly want, with one exception. One of the main reasons I bought this particular player was for its DLNA capabilities. I have a DLNA media server that has around 400 h.264 movies and thousands of AAC songs and I was hoping that the BDP-S770 would be able to play them through DLNA streaming. This is not the case. At first I was just confused, the device showed all my pictures from the media server, but would not show or play any music or movies. After digging though the manual for a little bit I found a few very curious footnotes. The device only supports AAC and H.264 video through a direct connection! It cannot stream these formats from my media server, which is very disappointing.
If you want a top of the line Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Blu-ray player .... then this is the device for you. Just dont expect it to live up to the hype when it comes to your DLNA media servers. Hopefully they will address this via a firmware update, which if they do, this would turn into a 5 star review.

Samsung BD-C5900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player Review

Samsung BD-C5900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The unit works fine most of the time, but it does have some issues that make me wish I had bought a different model.
First the good stuff. The included Samsung Apps are awesome. The firmware upgrade process is quick and easy. Streaming Netflix movies through this unit is better than streaming directly to my TV because it doesn't require a major rewire of my audio system as this unit is already connected to my AV receiver.
The unit is so light that pushing buttons actually moves it around. It would be great if it had a bit more substance so that it would just stay in place on the shelf. Occasionally, it pixelates, audio drops out, or just generally does strange things. As mentioned in other reviews, a power cycle will fix the problem. It only has one HDMI 1.4 output, so if you want to use 3D, you need to be sure you have HDMI 1.4 support through the entire path to your TV. My AV receiver is less than a year old, but doesn't support HMDI 1.4. That means that I have to either buy a new AV Receiver or connect the DVD directly to my TV. I chose the latter, but that means that I don't have surround sound for 3D content without some creative new wiring. I like the Panasonic approach to this better. Their 3D DVD players have two HDMI outputs (1-1.4 & 1-1.3), which allows you to connect one cable directly to the TV for the 3D picture and one to the AV Reciever for surround sound.

Samsung BD-C6900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player Review

Samsung BD-C6900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Samsung's BD-C6900 is one of the first Blu-ray 3D players on the market (the other being Panasonic's DMP-BDT300 and upcoming DMP-BDT350). As a first generation Blu-ray 3D player, you have to expect a few glitches (and you'll get them), but if you're itching to watch 3D TV at home in full HD 1080p, this player will get the job done, with a few nice perks and one potentially major caveat.
There is a lot to like about the BD-C6900 including super-fast boot-up and load times : 8 seconds to boot, 11 seconds to load a DVD and an almost unbelievable 18 seconds to load a BD-Java Blu-ray title ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl"). This is about twice as fast to load a BD-Java disc compared to the otherwise super-speedy OPPO BDP-83 player, and is less than 1/3 the load time of the Pioneer BDP-320 on the same title. It also offers a wealth of IPTV options and web widgets, including Netflix and VUDU streaming, YouTube and Pandora (among others). And with DLNA networking, you can connect it to your networked computers to access (and stream), audio, video and photo content like nobody's business.
As a 3D player, it seems to perform exactly as designed - we say "seems" because the only real 3D content we have on Blu-ray 3D Disc to test with is the Monsters vs. Aliens promo disc that Samsung includes in the 3D Starter Kit. When connected to a Samsung UN55C8000 3D LED/LCD TV, the MvA disc looked fantastic using the Samsung active shutter 3D glasses. Yes we did see some "crosstalk" (interference between left and right channels), but this was caused by the TV, not the player.
But as a 3D player, there is one little known caveat - yes the player is compatible with 2D TVs (in 2D mode) and with current HDMI 1.3 receivers, however, if you want to take full advantage of the audio and video capabilities of this player used with a 3D TV, then you will need to have one of the brand new HDMI 1.4-equipped audio video receivers. Current HDMI 1.3 receivers *cannot* pass through the HDMI 1.4 3D video signal to a compatible 3D TV. This means that if you want to take advantage of lossless audio codecs (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio), your only option is to upgrade to an HDMI 1.4-equipped receiver or use the player's multi-channel analog outputs and let the player do the decoding. And this is neither the easiest to set-up nor the highest quality option as it relies on the bass management and speaker configuration capabilities of the player, which are weaker than the bass management capabilities of most receivers.
Panasonic's Blu-ray 3D players get around this limitation by providing two HDMI outputs: an HDMI 1.4 3D-enabled output (to connect directly to the display or to an HDMI 1.4 receiver) and a legacy HDMI 1.3 output for connecting to an HDMI 1.3 receiver. Is this a show-stopper? It might be if you don't want to upgrade your receiver (again). But if you only use the speakers built into your TV (blech!), or you're happy with the legacy lossy surround formats (Dolby Digital and regular DTS) which you can get from the optical output, OR if you have an HDMI 1.4-compliant A/V receiver then this will not be a problem for you.
As a standard 2D Blu-ray player, we found that the BD-C6900 was a mixed bag - some upconversion tasks like odd cadence detection and correction as well as standard 2:3 film cadence detection, were performed well, as was the player's treatment of diagonal lines: no jaggies visible here, even on the spinning white line torture tests on the HQV benchmark discs. But we were surprised to see some noticeable digital artifacts on standard Blu-ray Discs such as "Blade Runner" - the intro title sequence looked less than ideal with ghosting in the title sequence and beyond that, some noise and blockiness in the black backgrounds that we have not seen on other players.
Overall, the BD-C6900 is a pretty solid Blu-ray and DVD player, but for the 2D Blu-ray playback artifacts and HDMI 1.3-receiver incompatibility. If these factors are not important to you, then you are likely to be happy with it. If not, then wait for Samsung's higher end Blu-ray 3D player, coming later this year (not yet announced) or take a look at the Panasonic or Sony Blu-ray 3D players when they become more widely available.
Our comprehensive BD-C6900 review is available on Big Picture Big Sound (dot com).

Panasonic DMP-BDT100 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Player
Average Reviews:

Panasonic's DMP-BDT100 Blu-ray 3D player is currently one of the least expensive options for 3D Blu-ray playback, but this doesn't mean it sacrifices performance for the sake of cost savings. The player offers a robust set of streaming options (Netflix, Amazon VOD, YouTube, Pandora, etc.) as well as very good DVD upconversion and outstanding Blu-ray playback, for the same price as many standard 2D Blu-ray players. UPDATE: VUDU is now also available on the BDT100 via a recent firmware and server update.
The player lacks some features compared to the top of the line DMP-BDT350: no dual HDMI output (only needed if you are using this with an older non 3D-compliant receiver), no multichannel analog outputs (for use with non-HDMI receivers) and no built-in WiFi networking (can be added via the Panasonic Wireless LAN Adapter). It also offers a fairly clunky user interface lacking the modern graphic-driven GUI that you see on current LG and Samsung Blu-ray players, though it is superior to the user menu on the Pioneer players. But the DMP-BDT100 provides all the basics, and several advanced features, as well as strong high def video and audio performance. The player passes all the upconversion and film cadence detection tests on the "Spears and Munsil" and "HQV Benchmark" DVDs and Blu-ray Discs with flying colors and also offers enhanced 4:4:4 color output with 24p (24 frame/second) output options for both DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. If silver discs are primarily how you watch your movies, then there is little to fault in the BDT100.
We did notice a peculiarity with Netflix streaming on the BDT100. Streaming SD content from Netflix, we observed something called the "CUE" (chroma upsampling error or "chroma bug"). This is something that can occur when a compressed video source has its color information upconverted to restore color detail lost in the compression process. On the BDT100, this upconversion is imperfect, which can cause visible color banding or jagged edges on the borders between colors. The problem is only noticeable on standard definition Netflix streaming content. Netflix HD, standard DVD and Blu-ray Disc playback do not exhibit this issue. And frankly, those with untrained eyes might not even notice it. It becomes more evident as you move to larger screens (e.g., front projection systems), but it can be viewed on some Netflix SD content even at the more common 42-inch and up screen sizes. As to whether this issue is a deal-breaker to you or not, that depends on how much standard def streaming you do from Netflix, and whether the chroma bug is something that bothers you. But we would be remiss not to mention it. According to our contacts at Panasonic, they are aware of the issue and are working toward a fix.
If Netflix SD content is not a part of your streaming media diet, then we give the BDT100 an unqualified recommendation. But if you do find yourself watching a lot of standard def streaming content on Netflix then you may want to look elsewhere or wait to see if Panasonic can deliver a fix to this issue on the BDT100.
