(More customer reviews)I recently purchased this machine and initially had an issue with it not playing other region DVDs. However, when I contacted the seller they sent me a replacement machine that seems to work just fine. It installed easily and played a Region 2 Pal DVD with no problems at all. I haven't tried it with any other region discs, but have no reason to think it won't play those as well. It does have technology that prevents recording of copyrighted material, so if your cable company or other input source is putting copyright protection on its broadcast signal you will have a problem with that. After doing some research I'm led to believe that many of the new recorders are shipping with similar technology. Overall I'm happy with my purchase of this machine and the company has provided excellent and efficient customer service.
