(More customer reviews)been using it for almost 5months. wanted a cheap player after my toshiba 5 disc dvd player konked off. did not want to buyer an expensive player. wanted to by a new inexpensive dvd player for about $60 but saw this one at BJ's for $99 on sale and too a blue-ray!. since I have philips 32inch lcd tv and had been using it for more than a year was quite familiar with the make and quality of philips so i bought this one without second thought. boy oh boy my old cd's, dvd came to life. found that what a piece of junk toshiba player had been. all the dvd/cd due to upconvert sounded terrific on my 10 year old 5.1 home theater system. anyone having second thoughs about this player, i'd say go for it. do upgrade the firmware to latest via disc or via internet/ethernet-cable connected/via remote. on the down side it does not play my old vcd discs. if only they would upgrade firmware to play vcds. .....
played avatar-blue ray looked and sounded terrific. played mp3, cd's.. no complains.
overall i would say its a terrific buy.
would definitely buy philips 3d tv as soon as they have one for decent price!
